Maeurn Smiles’ Recipe for a Healthier and Happier Life

People have no control over the circumstances they are born into. At some point, however, choices start to matter, and people start making their luck.

Maeurn Smiles’ story of making her way in the world started before she turned 20, which is a very young age for Filipinos to strike out on their own. It was a good decision, though, as it led her to a career as an Instagram mother and influencer.

Now, as a successful young woman leading a fulfilled life, she’s willing to share some of the things she finds paramount to enjoying life.

Family life plays a big part in Filipino culture. So even though she no longer lives with her family, Maeurn Smiles cares for them as much as she can.

“It was hard for me to leave without telling them, but I had to do it,” she explains. “If I stayed, I’d never be able to help them buy a house, which I’m doing now. And I also get to help other family members and relatives when they need it.”

Having strong bonds with other people, especially close family bonds, is a necessary item on any checklist for a happier life. Being able to help family members when they need it can only do good for a person’s sense of self-worth.

Maeurn Smiles’ advice for a healthy life boils down to working out. She’s a fan of it, not only for the health effects of it but also because of the empowering moment of being able to shape one’s body.

“I won’t lie – I love working on my booty,” she laughs. “But it’s hard work – I get up at six in the morning to be ready to work out at nine. I have a coach who helps me, but I don’t diet. I don’t track calories, either.”

Maeurn Smiles’ brand of “dieting” is to eat good food she likes eating and then work out a lot. It might not work for everyone, but she is happy with the results.

The final piece of the health and happiness jigsaw is self-care. Maeurn Smiles has an ice-bath company, so she’s not turning down a dip. She also likes to go to the sauna. And then there are the small things and joys of life that she makes sure to indulge in whenever she can.

“Sometimes I like to stay home and watch movies,” she says. “I like going to the beach. I like sunsets. I like to reflect on how good life is at the moment and practice gratefulness.”
